We only visited two venues – the minute we saw Fetcham Park we knew we’d found the perfect spot for our wedding. We loved the gorgeous rooms, with their gold-and-pastel Georgian murals; it meant even if it poured on the day itself, we wouldn’t mind having to be inside.
I’m 5ft so I was daunted about dress shopping and was worried I wouldn’t find anything to fit me. Choosing to have a dress made specially was one of my best decisions. Emma Hunt’s studio is a treasure trove and I fell in love with her silk-duchess-satin ‘Cora’ skirt. The train gave me my ‘I’m a bride!’ moment.
I adore flowers and always imagined they’d take centre stage on the day.
Our florist Jay instantly understood our brief of a modern, not ‘too done’ design. Her arrangements, which included soft peonies, hydrangeas and mixed roses, managed to create the sophisticated, romantic atmosphere we were hoping for.
My maids found their gowns at… Tesco! I really liked the idea of a multiway gown so my girls could style their dress in whatever way they wanted, and came across these lovely grey ones on the supermarket’s website. For the wedding, we added a diamanté brooch and silver sandals to bring the colour alive.
My top tip: Yes, your wedding is special but it’s one day of your life. Things will go wrong. Our confetti was accidently used at the wedding before us. It meant we didn’t get the classic confetti photos
I wanted but it was not meant to be!
